Spirit of Spring

Robert Schumann Concert

The Schumann project “Spririt of Spring”  brings together songs and piano solos from 1848, the year in which Schumann composed Album for the Young op.68 (piano) and the Song Album for the Young op.79.

The audience will hear well loved pieces composed for Schumann’s own piano students and songs drawing on the German folk tradition. These are performed in the context of contemporary letters and readings detailing the turbulent events of the 1848 German revolution.

This spring concert concludes with Scenes from Childhood op.15. It is reminiscent of childhood and suitable for all ages.
